By enabling MFA you are enforcing the use of Google Authenticator for all your users. Please ensure you understand the implications of enabling this additional security setting.

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is an electronic authentication method in which a computer user is granted access to a website or application only after successfully presenting two or more pieces of evidence. ie Email, Password and Code.

InsightQ uses Google Authenticator as an MFA tool. If you enforce MFA each of your users will be required to use the Google Authenticator App to receive a code to login to insightQ. Therefore please ensure all your users have the correct devices to be able to authenticate.

Google Authenticator is a free app and can be found on Google Play or your App store.

Things to consider:

MFA will enhance your organisation's security by requiring your users to identify themselves by more than a username and password.

  1. Do all your users have the correct devices/ accounts to download Google Authenticator
  2. Do you have the IT confidence to be able to support your users to enable and maintain access to Google Authenticator once set up.

Once you are happy that you can support your users you can then enable MFA on insightQ.

Go to Admin and click Preferences, you will find the MFA button under the Security tab.

PLEASE NOTE If you enable MFA in error you can disable it, if any of your users have logged in and set up Google Authenticator before you disable they will be set up with MFA and will need to disable this locally when they login using their own email.

Can a user disable MFA if you enforced it?

The simple answer to this is, No!

If you don't enable MFA, can your user choose to set this up for themself?

Yes, a user can choose to enable/disable this additional security feature and this will not impact on other users.

Click onto your user name at the top right and it will open up personal settings. Click to enable or disable.
